1. Identify Your Goals

Every person has some specific goal for starting a fitness routine. It can be anything like losing weight, gaining muscle, reducing stress and various others. It is extremely important that you identify your goal first and then start exercising. There are different types of exercises and every exercise has a specific result. So, the type of exercise you do has to be related to the type of goal you have set.

2. Start Small

One mistake which people usually do is hurrying into a new habit. Almost everyone wants results faster and in that rush some people who are not at all into exercising start exercising for hours. There is nothing wrong with being anxious to improve but if you will try to hurry you will set yourself up for failure. Given below are the reasons why you should not rush for exercise.

• Your body is not habitual for the workout and it won’t be able to recover between each workout.
• Your workout routine cannot sustain for a longer period.
• After some time, you will feel like you are forcing yourself to the workout.

On the contrary, if you will start small like exercising for only ½ to 1 hour during the initial period. It will make you feel energetic and you will be excited to go to the gym. After you will get habitual to the exercise you can increase your workout hours.

3. Prepare a Training Plan

Going to the gym can be a difficult part for most beginners. Aimless workout will lead you nowhere. So, if you want your body to be in the right shape, you have to create a plan for that. Whatever fitness plan you make that needs to be aligned with your fitness goal. Find out what is your goal, what exercises you will do, and what will be your diet plan.

4. Give up Your Ego

It doesn’t matter what exercises other people in the gym are doing. You just have to focus on your goal and continue with that. Doing exercise just to impress someone will take you nowhere. There are some people who try to lift the weight which they can barely lift just by seeing their gym partner lifting heavy weight. And they end up doing a few reps with poor posture.

5. Set a Calendar for Exercise

Set a reminder for exercise on your calendar as you may generally do for any important work. This will help you to make exercise an everyday activity and also your priority. If you will just wakeup like every day and think that you will do your workout at some point of the day, you will never be able to do that as there is a possibility that some other tasks might come up in between. Therefore, setting a reminder is extremely important.

6. Think About the Previous Workout

Take time to think about your past workouts and find out what was beneficial for you and what wasn’t? Most people don’t follow this technique but trust us you will surely see progress when you will start working out. It is a feedback loop and the progress will be much faster by looking back.

7. Take Rest

Taking proper rest is as important as working out. If you want to perform your best in the workout sessions you will need to get some rest. Resting helps in the growth of the muscles and allows your central nervous system to get back to its ideal state. On the other hand not taking proper sleep can harm your fitness journey. Researches have shown that a person eats more due to the insufficiency of sleep.

8. Appreciate Yourself

Don’t forget to reward yourself for the hard work you have done for your body. For example; purchase a cool pair of sports shoes or running shoes for yourself after 1 month of continuous workout.

Summary

Hope this will be helpful in starting your fitness journey. Just remember one thing you should never give up. Keep on trying, keep working hard and appreciate your achievements (small or big).
